Terms and Conditions

Welcome to the International Brotherhood of Magicians (“I.B.M.,” “we,” “our,” or “us”).  By accessing or using our website, purchasing a membership, or participating in any I.B.M. programs, you agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions.  Please read them carefully before proceeding.

1. Membership Overview

 

Membership in the International Brotherhood of Magicians is open to individuals who share an interest in the art of magic and agree to abide by the organization’s principles, By-Laws, and Standing Rules.

 

All memberships are annual unless specifically designated as a Life Membership

 

  • Annual Memberships renew automatically each year on your membership anniversary date unless cancelled prior to renewal.

  • Life Memberships are a one-time payment that provides lifetime membership benefits without annual renewal fees. 

 

2.   New Member Application Fee

All new members are subject to a $15 non-refundable new member fee to cover the certificate of membership, membership pen, and membership card plus associated administrative and mailing costs. (Inactive accounts for three years or longer will be subject to a new member fee).

 

3.   Transaction Fees

 

A small transaction fee is included with all membership plans to offset processing and transaction costs incurred through our payment providers. 

 

4. The Linking Ring Magazine

 

All annual memberships include access to The Linking Ring, the official monthly magazine of the International Brotherhood of Magicians.

 

  • Digital Memberships include access to the digital edition of The Linking Ring for your the full 12-month membership term.

  • Print + Digital Memberships include delivery of the printed magazine to the mailing address on file, for 12 consecutive monthly issues aligned with your membership term.

  • Changes of address should be reported promptly to ensure uninterrupted delivery.  Delays caused by address changes or postal issues are not the responsibility of I.B.M.

 

5. The I.B.M. Pledge

 

All members agree to the following pledge as a condition of membership:

 

“I hereby pledge that I will abide by the By-Laws and Standing Rules of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and of any affiliated Rings of which I may become a member and any and all amendments thereto as well as its Convention mandates. 
I further pledge that I shall never violate any part of ‘The Code of Ethics” of the International Brotherhood of Magicians.


I also pledge not to blatantly expose the modus operandi of any magical effect for the purpose of publicity, personal fame or promotion.


Upon my honor, I pledge to the above and attest that all statements made by me in this application are true and subscribe my name hereto.”

 

Violation of this pledge may result in suspension or termination of membership at the discretion of I.B.M. leadership.

 

6. Payment Terms

 

All membership fees must be paid in full at the time of registration or renewal.  Payments are processed securely through our authorized payment providers.

 

  • Memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable once activated.

  • Any applicable taxes will be added to the total amount charged.

  • Transaction and new member fees are non-refundable.

 

7. Membership Renewals

 

  • Annual Memberships renew automatically at the end of the membership term.  You may cancel your upcoming renewal by clicking “Cancel Subscription” on your plan or billing tab of your account profile prior to your renewal date.

  • Life Memberships do not renew and require only a one-time payment.

 

Cancellations will take effect at the end of the current billing cycle; no prorated refunds are provided.

 

8. Use of Services and Conduct

 

Members agree to use I.B.M. services and participate in activities in a respectful and ethical manner consistent with the principles of the organization. Misuse, harassment, or unethical exposure of magical methods is strictly prohibited.

 

9. Intellectual Property

 

All content provided by the International Brotherhood of Magicians—including The Linking Ring magazine, website content, educational materials, and logos— is the property of I.B.M. and protected under copyright and trademark laws.  You may not reproduce, distribute, or modify any of these materials without written consent.

 

10. Privacy and Data Protection

 

We value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information.

 

  • Data Collected: We collect personal information such as your name, contact details, payment information, and membership preferences to process your membership and deliver services like The Linking Ring.

  • Use of Information: Your data is used solely for legitimate membership operations, including renewals, event communication, and organizational updates.

  • Third-Party Processors: Payment processing and certain digital services are handled by trusted third parties who maintain industry-standard data protection measures.

  • Cookies and Analytics: Our website may use cookies and analytics tools to improve your browsing experience. You can adjust your browser settings to decline cookies if preferred.

  • Data Security: We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, or misuse.

  • Your Rights: You may request access to or correction of your personal data at any time by contacting us at office@magician.org.

 

We do not sell or rent member information to third parties.

 

11. Limitation of Liability

 

The International Brotherhood of Magicians is not responsible for any damages arising from use of its website, digital publications, or services.  All offerings are provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind.

 

12. Modifications

 

We reserve the right to modify or update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Continued use of your membership or access to our website after changes have been posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
